It makes me proud to know I am part of a school that is making a difference.
I am a Rochester native who grew up going to the Rochester Museum of play, enjoying the beauty of the Lilac Festival, and indulging in the best food ever made…the garbage plate. Being part of the Rochester community made me realize at a young age that I wanted to be part of a helping profession. I attended Roberts Wesleyan College for my undergraduate and graduate studies in childhood education, special education, and literacy education. I began my teaching journey in a wonderful rural school district near Rochester, and have grown as an educator and person through my work with K-6th grade. Though I love my community in Rochester, I am very excited to be building my life here in Buffalo, and getting to know the wonderful communities that have blossomed here.
What Brings Me Joy
I have been asked this often and I always tell people that the one thing that brings me joy is a smile. A smile can mean so many different things, that the simple act of a smile makes me elated. A smile can be the result of learning something new, eating your favorite food, spending time with someone, hearing a funny joke, or even solving a tricky problem. When I see someone smile it brings me joy, because we all need more smiles in our lives.
What I'm Good At
I have always been told that I am good at solving problems. No matter the problem, there are always multiple ways to solve that problem. Sometimes all you need is a little creativity and a positive mindset to help you get there.
What the World Needs
The world needs more kindness. The act of kindness can come in many forms, but there is one thing that does not change…it makes people feel good. When more people feel good and happy, we become our best selves. A world of kindness means a world of people who are happy together. Always speak and act with kindness in your heart.
Buffalo Commons is a place where students, teachers, parents, and the community have their voices heard. Community is very important to me, and BCCS is providing the opportunity for an amazing community to grow and flourish. BCCS is also a place where every student will have the opportunity to grow and explore their unique talents, skills, and passions. We need more of this in schools, and it makes me proud to know I am part of a school that is making a difference.
